‘Robber’ lynched in Munshiganj

MUNSHIGANJ : A suspected robber was killed in a lynch-mob attack at Velua village in Tongibari upazila early Monday, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Babul Hossain, 47, a resident of Velua village of the upazila.
A gang of robbers, numbering 15 to 20, swooped on the house of one Ayub Ali Sheikh and looted valuables after keeping Ayub’s family members hostage in the early hours of the day, said Yeardous Hasan, officer-in-charge of Tongibari Police Station.
Hearing their hue and cry, local people rushed in and chased the robbers. At one stage, they caught one robber while the others managed to flee the scene.
Later, the mob beat the suspected robber up mercilessly, leaving him badly injured. The injured was taken to Tongibari Upazila Health Complex here he succumbed to his injuries.
